What a Logo Should Actually Cost (And Why the Range Is So Wide)
Logo quotes range from $5 to $50,000 for what looks like the same deliverable. Here is what actually drives the price, and how to work out which end of the range you need.
A practical guide to Amazon main image requirements — the rules that get listings suppressed, the ones sellers misread, and how to design a compliant main image that still competes.
The main image is the only image most shoppers see. It is also the one Amazon polices hardest, and a suppression takes a listing out of search entirely until it is fixed.
The rules are not complicated. What trips sellers up is that some of them are technically enforced and some are enforced inconsistently, so the marketplace fills with listings that appear to break them.
Before you act on any of this, check the current requirements in Seller Central. Amazon updates image policy, and category-specific rules override the general ones. What follows is the shape of it, not a substitute for the live policy page.
Pure white background. RGB 255, 255, 255. Not off-white, not a gradient, not a studio sweep that fades to grey at the edges. This is the one most commonly failed by accident — a photographer’s white cyclorama is rarely actually 255 across the whole frame.
The product must be the whole product, and only the product. No props that are not included in the purchase. If the box in the photo contains three accessories the buyer does not receive, that is a violation and a returns problem.
No text, logos, badges or watermarks added to the image. Branding physically printed on the product or its packaging is fine. Anything laid on top in Photoshop — “Best Seller”, “2-pack”, a discount flash, a border — is not.
No borders, frames or colour blocks. Including the subtle drop shadow band some templates add.
The product should fill roughly 85% of the frame. Amazon states this as a requirement and it is also simply good design: a product floating small in white space loses in a search grid.
Resolution high enough for zoom. The longest side should be at least 1600px so the zoom function activates. 500px is the technical minimum; designing to it wastes the feature that most helps conversion.
No nudity, and no images of the product in use on the main image in most categories — that belongs in the secondary images.
“But my competitor has text on their main image.” They do, and it will probably be caught. Enforcement is uneven and retroactive; competitors who currently get away with it are carrying a risk, not demonstrating a loophole. Building your listing on the assumption you will also not be caught is a bad trade against a suppression.
“White background means I can cut out sloppily.” A hard cutout with jagged edges or a halo reads as cheap at thumbnail size even when it passes policy. Compliance and quality are separate bars.
“Multipacks need the quantity written on the image.” Not on the main image. If you sell a three-pack, photograph three units. Show the count rather than labelling it.
Category exceptions exist. Clothing, shoes and some other categories have their own rules — model shots, specific angles, sometimes different background requirements. Check your category before assuming the general rules apply.
Within the constraints there is more room than sellers assume.
Angle is your main lever. Straight-on is the safe default and the reason so many listings look identical. A three-quarter angle that shows both the face and the depth of a product usually reads more clearly at small size and differentiates instantly.
Show the recognisable silhouette. In a grid of thumbnails the shape is what the eye sorts on before any detail resolves. Choose the view that makes your category obvious and your product distinct within it.
Fill the frame properly. Most listings waste 30-40% of the canvas. Cropping tighter is free contrast against everyone who did not.
Use the packaging if the packaging is the brand. For products where the box carries the identity — supplements, cosmetics, food — including the packaging is both compliant and the strongest differentiator available, because the printed branding is allowed.
Light for the thumbnail. Soft, even lighting with one clear directional key reads at 200px. Dramatic contrast lighting looks impressive at full size and turns into an unreadable blob small.
If it passes all five, the main image is doing its job — and every remaining argument belongs in frames two through seven, where you have far more freedom.
That is where most of the conversion work actually happens. Our Amazon listing image service treats the main image as the compliance problem and the secondary set as the persuasion problem, because they are different jobs.

Most brand guidelines are either two pages or two hundred, and neither gets used. Here is what a document people actually follow contains.
Most product infographics restate the spec sheet. The ones that convert answer the specific reason a buyer was about to leave. Here is how to find that reason.
